About Me
Lucinda Cowden is an experienced Actor, Writer and Drama Teacher with a flexible portfolio of skills and experience including Acting for TV and Film, Voice Over Artist,Teaching Drama and Public Speaking, Workshop Leading and Devising Theatre for adults and children.
Lucinda has excellent communication skills and a proven record of engaging effectively with the public. She is passionate about empowering students with communication skills, empathy and resilience using creative play and self discovery through the Arts.
Bio
Lucinda made her theatrical debut at 15 in "Cains Hand" at the Bellevoir St Theatre in Sydney and then went on to train at the National Theatre Drama School in Melbourne, She played various parts in film and television before landing the role of "Melanie" (the one with the funny laugh) in "Neighbours". After 3 successful years with the show she decided to move to the UK.
Whilst living there she presented "Parallel 9" and "Highly Sprung" for the BBC, "Soap Fever" for Granada, played "Marion" in "The Basil Brush Show", "Clare O'Grady" in "Doctors" and voiced "Mitzy", "Alice" and "Lolly" in animated children's show "The Koala Brothers", all for the BBC.
She was a regular guest improviser with the Comedy Store Players, performed stand up in London as one half of comedy duo "Cowden & Bourne" and wrote and performed her own one woman show "Bland Ambition" at the Edinburgh Festival. Her theatrical credits include "Dead White Males", "The John Wayne Principal" and "Don Quixote" at the Nuffield, Southampton, "Mr Meloncholy", "Half a life", "Petunia Takes Tea" and "Wolf Lullabye" for Blue Tongue Theatre Company, "Killing Kangaroos" for "Made In Wales","Twelfth Night", “The Importance of being Earnest” and "Blythe Spirit" for Incisor Theatre Company, "Hedda Gabbler" and "The Man of the Future is Dead" for Open Secret at the Edinburgh Festival 2006 and restaged at the Bucharest International Festival 2007 as well as 15 Pantomimes!!
Lucinda returned to Melbourne in 2010 and started her own business, Performing Arts based educational program “Bouncy Beats” and also teaches Drama and Public Speaking for “SuperSpeak”. She has been in Commercials for "Worksafe", "Jetstar", “Coles” and “Purple Bricks”. Feature Film "Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla" and Web series "How to Talk Australians" and “Goccsy’s Classics”, as well in the theatre playing Caroline in “Pins and Needles” @ Caberet Voltaire and Pauline in “Ghosted” @ Chapel off Chapel. In 2020 she was overjoyed to be asked to return to Neighbours to revive the role of Melanie Pearson until the shows finale in 2022 and the reboot in 2023
